Pidie Prosecutor's Office Confiscates IDR 1.4 Billion In Cash Related To Chemical Corruption

BANDA ACEH - Pidie District Attorney's investigators, Aceh, confiscated more than Rp1.4 billion in cash related to the investigation into the alleged corruption case in the procurement of chemicals at the Tirta Mon Krueng Baro Regional Public Company, Pidie Regency.

Head of the Pidie Kejari Suhendra said the procurement of chemicals for the Tirta Mon Krueng Baro Regional Public Company took place from 2020 to 2023 with a total budget of more than IDR 4 billion.

"In this case, the investigative team confiscated more than Rp1.4 billion in cash. The money was secured in another holding account of the Pidie District Attorney," said Suhendra as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 22.

The former head of the Sabang Kejari explained that the investigation team had named three related parties as suspects in the procurement of chemicals at the Tirta Mon Krueng Baro Regional Public Company.

The three suspects, namely the initials RD as Director of the Tirta Mon Krueng Baro Regional Public Company, AG as Head of the Technical Section/Operation of the Tirta Mon Krueng Baro Regional Public Company, and FS as the provider of chemicals.

The suspects are suspected of violating Article 2 or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 Paragraph (1) letters a, b, Paragraph (2) and Paragraph (3) of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended into Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

Suhendra stated that the alleged corruption case stems from public reports regarding allegations of irregularities in the procurement of chemicals for the operational needs of the Tirta Mon Krueng Baro Regional Public Company.

Based on the report, the Pidie Kejari conducted a series of investigations and investigations. From the results of the investigation and examination of witnesses, evidence was found of misappropriation of the procurement of chemicals with a budget of Rp. 4 billion.

"The alleged corruption committed by the suspects by inflating the price and quantity of chemicals did not match the contract. From the results of the audit of the Aceh Provincial Inspectorate, it was found that the state's financial losses in the procurement of the chemicals amounted to more than Rp1.6 billion," said Suhendra.
