KARANGASEM - The man with the initials IM (31) was arrested by the Karangasem Police, Bali, for committing theft and murder.

The perpetrator killed his employer Ni Nyoman Sukra (85) in West Tianyar Village, Kubu District, Karangasem Regency, Bali.

"The Karangasem Police Satreskrim team together with the Kubu Police have succeeded in securing the suspect in the Central Java area," said Karangasem Police Chief AKBP I Nengah Sadirta, Friday, January 17.

Meanwhile, the suspect is known to be from Palembang, South Sumatra. The perpetrator was arrested in Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, on Thursday (9/1).

This case was revealed after the discovery of the victim who died in an unnatural condition. From the results of the investigation, the perpetrator admitted that he had committed theft twice at the victim's house.

"In the second action, the suspect was caught by the victim, so he committed murder by smothering the victim's face using a pillow so that he could not breathe," he added.

The suspect is an employee employed by the victim's child and lives in the victim's house.

The suspect is suspected of being desperate to kill the victim after being caught stealing the victim's jewelry. A number of jewelry belonging to the victim went missing from the storage area, including two gold rings worn on the victim's finger.

Furthermore, after the incident the suspect fled. The suspect also sold stolen items in the form of gold jewelry with a total loss of Rp. 15 million.

"The stolen ornamental was sold by the suspect and then used to play slots (online gambling)," he said.

"The suspect is suspected of having multiple articles, namely Article 365 Paragraph 1, Paragraph 2 to (1), Paragraph 3, and Article 338 related to theft with violence that resulted in death," said AKBP I Nengah.
