Two Police Calo Bintara Polda Central Java Charged With Accepting Bribes Of IDR 2.6 Billion

Two former members of the Central Java Police (Central Java) for the 2022 NCO acceptance were charged with accepting bribes of up to Rp2.6 billion to pass a number of police candidates.

Public prosecutor Jehan Nurul Azhar in a trial at the Semarang Corruption Court, said the two defendants, Dwi Erwinta Wicaksono and Zainal Abidin, were members of the Central Java Regional Police Biddokkes who were assigned as members of the 2022 Police Officers Admission Committee.

In his description, the prosecutor explained that the defendant Dwi Erwinta received bribes whose value reached Rp2.29 billion in bribes received from the six prospective non-commissioned officers, the value varied from Rp280 million to Rp450 million.

Meanwhile, the defendant Zainal Abidin received Rp350 million from one prospective non-commissioned officer.

In their actions, the two defendants promised their victims to monitor the selection process for the prospective non-commissioned officers who had deposited the amount of money.

"The actions of the two defendants contradict the principles of recruiting a clean, transparent, accountable, and humanist member of the National Police candidate," he said in a trial chaired by Chief Judge R. Hendral as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 17.

The actions of the two defendants were revealed in a hand arrest operation carried out by the Paminal Bureau of the National Police Divpropam which was carried out in June 2022.

For their actions, the two defendants were charged with Article 5 paragraph 2 or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 which was amended and added to Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption.

After reading the indictment, Chief Judge R. Hendral postponed the trial to be held again next week.
