Norway Express Support For Palestine's Integrated Region

JAKARTA - Norway has expressed support for the "integrated" discourse of the Palestinian state, covering the West Bank and Gaza Strip. This was conveyed on Saturday, December 7 yesterday.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, in a panel discussion entitled "Mediation of conflict in the new era" at the 22nd Doha Forum, with Prime Minister Qatari and Indian Foreign Minister, stated that, "We want an integrated Palestine, including the West Bank, Gaza, and relevant parts of Jerusalem."

"I believe the message from this region now is that it is entirely possible. There may be a big deal, but it should involve Palestine," Eide said, citing ANTARA, December 8.

He added, "This is not just one conflict, but there is a root of the conflict that connects everything, namely the absence of a solution to Palestinian questions."

The 2024 Doha Forum which lasted for two days in Doha carries the theme "The Necessity of Innovation."

According to official estimates, more than 4,500 participants from more than 150 countries attended this forum, including seven heads of state, seven prime ministers, and 15 foreign ministers.

Mediation efforts led by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar to reach a ceasefire as well as a prisoner swap deal between Israel and Hamas failed, due to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's refusal to stop the ongoing conflict.

Israel has waged a genocide war in the Gaza Strip, which left more than 44,600 people dead, the majority being women and children, since October 7, 2023.

Last month, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing charges of genocide in the International Court for its actions in Gaza.
