JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will hold various activities to celebrate the 497th anniversary of the City of Jakarta. The series of events started from May 19 to July 2024.

The peak event commemorating the 497th Anniversary of Jakarta titled "Malam Jaya Raya" was held in the National Monument (Monas) area on June 22, 2024. There were various other events that were held before and after the peak event.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government synergizes with various parties in presenting various interesting activities as a series of 497th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta. Let's celebrate the anniversary of the City of Jakarta 2024 and support this city to become a global city," said DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono in his statement, Monday, May 20.

The series of events began with the launching of the 497th Anniversary of Jakarta City at the HI Roundabout, Central Jakarta on May 19 yesterday. In the declaration, the theme of the 497th Anniversary of Jakarta City was "Jakarta Global City with Million Charms" was revealed.

"Not only that, there is also the 'Color of Jakarta 2024' Photographary Competition, Gebyar Betawi Cultural Arts in Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village, Khitanan Massal, Jakarta Light Festival at Fatahillah Park, Jakarta Literature Festival at Jakarta Library, Jakarta Funwalk Guard, and the Governor's Cup of Woodball Tournament," added Joko.

Furthermore, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also presented the Jakarta International Marathon (Jakim) on June 23, 2024. This activity was presented as an effort to increase the role of the city of sport tourism in Jakarta.

In this activity, the number of participants is targeted to reach 15,000 runners, both from within and outside the country with a total prize of around Rp. 3 billion and a grand prize house for special Indonesian citizens (WNI) who managed to break the marathon record.

The categories contested are Marathon (42.195K), Half Marathon (21.0975K) and 10K. The participants will run from the Northwest Monas crossing and finish at the GBK Main Stadium.

The annual Jakarta Fair event at JIEx9po Kemayoran was also presented again (12 June-14 July 2024), JIEP 2024 Sports Week, DKJ Festival (14 June 2024), Gernas Harvesting Ceremony by BBI and BBW (Indonesian-made and Proud to Travel in Indonesia) DKI Jakarta Province (21-23 June 2024), Jamming at Station: DKI Jakarta Anniversary Edition at MRT Station, Provincial SME Bazar Level in various shopping centers, to the peak event 'Main Jaya Raya' which will feature a variety of entertainment at Monas on June 22, 2024.
