JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, Hidayat Nur Wahid alias HNW, said that it is important for the younger generation, both millennials and Generation Z, to welcome Indonesia Gold 2045.

According to him, the younger generation must prepare themselves since 2024 to welcome 100 years of Indonesia. The reason is, he said that currently many think that the younger generation has lazy, individualist traits, and does not like history.

"Is it really the millennial generation or generation Z like that? I'm not sure the millennial generation is like that," said HNW in a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday.

He also gave an example that Indonesia's independence began with the preparations made by youth in 1924. From this preparation, according to him, the youths presented the Youth Pledge in 1928 which became the forerunner of Indonesia's independence.

According to him, negative assumptions about the younger generation were deliberately created so that the style colonial program could only be successful when we and the generations mentioned agreed and raided them.

This assumption, he said, actually contradicts Islam because Islamic teachings do not recognize the separation of Generation Z, the millennial generation, especially with negative assumptions as a lazy generation.

"If the millennial generation or generation Z does not study history, it will be very easy for anyone who will again colonize Indonesia in its various forms of recent colonialism," he said.
