BANDUNG - Bandung City Police (Polresta), West Java, arrested six debt collectors who forcibly withdrew motorized vehicles belonging to the community accompanied by intimidation and violence.

Bandung Police Chief Kombes Kusworo Wibowo said the incident began with an attempted violent confiscation by the parade of collectors.

"We managed to uncover the case of debt collectors or DC who acted inappropriately and carried out the blocking, forced dismissal of victims in the middle of the road in Nagreg District, Bandung Regency," said Kusworo as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 28.

When the incident happened, the victim, who was driving a vehicle, was intercepted by six perpetrators by intimidating and inviting the victim to come to the financing office in the Cileunyi area.

Because the victim felt that he had no debt, the victim refused an invitation to a parade collector to go to the financing office.

"One of the perpetrators tried to take or take the ignition key that the victim was holding or controlling, while threatening to break the glass of the victim's vehicle," he said.

He emphasized that motorized vehicles that are in arrears of credit should not be taken forcibly because they have been regulated in the Fidusian Law.

Kusworo explained that the mistake made by the perpetrators was not including the name in the letter of assignment from the financing office and also threatening the victim.

"Pradebt collectors do not carry complete file documents in accordance with the provisions, where the debt collector should have brought one, brought the identity of the officer to collect the vehicle," he said.

For their actions, the perpetrators with the initials FG, MYS, MRR, IS, HH, and AM were charged with Article 365 and or 368 in conjunction with Article 53 of the Criminal Code with a threat of nine years in prison.
