JAKARTA - The elected President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto said that he and the elected Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka needed the strength of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) during the upcoming 2024-2029 administration.
This need occurs because solving the nation's problems requires the role of other parties, apart from himself and Gibran.
"We are moving forward with the awareness that we are supported by a collection of figures, a very large collection of forces. We feel that and we need that, including the strength of Nahdlatul Ulama," Prabowo said at the NU Executive Board Office (PBNU), Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Sunday, April 28.
Apart from NU, Prabowo said that he also needed strength from Islamic community organizations (ormas) that were moderate, inclusive, and had confidence. In addition, he also said that he needed the strength of other mass organizations.
"Therefore, with the support of these forces, as well as from the strengths of other elements, elements of Christianity, Hindu elements, Buddhist elements, elements of all groups in Indonesia, we will jointly maintain the safety of the nation," he said.
He said support from elements of mass organizations was needed so that Indonesia's wealth could be maintained, and could be enjoyed or felt by all Indonesian people.
"Therefore, the strategies and programs that have been initiated by President Joko Widodo and his government, we consider them a very strong foundation, and we will build on that foundation," he explained.
Previously, the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia appointed Prabowo-Gibran as the Candidate Pair for President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia to be elected in the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections in accordance with KPU Decree Number 504 of 2024.
"Decided, first, to determine that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates elected in the 2024 General Election determine the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 2 Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates elected for the period 2024 — 2029 in the 2024 General Election," said Hasyim at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (24/4).
