JAKARTA - The President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) Said Iqbal said his party would hold a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 regarding the 2022 DKI provincial minimum wage (UMP).

Iqbal revealed that the labor unions belonging to the KSPI rejected the decision of the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) which lowered the DKI UMP from Rp4.67 million per month to Rp4.53 million per month.

"KSPI together with the Labor Party, as well as other elements of the labor union, including the FSPMI will take action on Tuesday, July 19, at City Hall," said Iqbal in his statement, Friday, July 15.

Iqbal said that 500 to 1,000 workers will participate in this action. In addition to the City Hall, KSPI and the affiliated unions will also hold a demonstration in front of the Jakarta Administrative Court building.

During the demonstration, workers will demand the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to appeal the decision of the Jakarta Administrative Court regarding the reduction of the DKI UMP to the Supreme Court (MA).

"KSPI and the Labor Party urge the Governor of DKI no later than Wednesday or Thursday next week to file an appeal to the Supreme Court, rejecting the PTUN decision," said Iqbal.

"The government's authority must not fall. If Governor Anies as Governor of DKI does not appeal, it means he is inconsistent with the decision. He must appeal," he continued.

Furthermore, Iqbal explained the reason for his party demanding Anies to appeal. Currently, wages for workers in 2022 have been running for 7 months. Meanwhile, the workers have revealed that they reject the reduction in wages to the Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Office.

"There has never been, in the whole world, wages lowered in the middle of the road. Horizontal conflicts will occur between workers and companies when wages are lowered," he said.

For information, the DKI Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) canceled the decision of the Governor (Kepgub) of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan regarding the 2022 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) whose lawsuit was filed by a number of entrepreneurs.

The decision of the Jakarta Administrative Court granted all claims from entrepreneurs. The plaintiff is the Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) DKI Jakarta.

In addition to canceling the Gubernatorial Decree, the Jakarta Administrative Court in its ruling also required Anies, as the defendant, to revoke Gubernatorial Decree No. 1517 of 2021 concerning the 2022 UMP which was issued on 16 December 2021.

Another ruling is that Anies obliges Anies to issue a new State Administrative Decree regarding the 2022 UMP based on the recommendation of the Wage Council of DKI Jakarta, namely the elements of the labor union Number: I/Depeprov/XI/2021 on November 15, 2021, amounting to Rp4,573,845.

The Jakarta Administrative Court also sentenced Anies as the defendant and the second defendants intervened jointly and severally to pay court fees of Rp642,000.
