PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono Calls South Korea Will Donate Water Installation In IKN Project

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, said South Korea would help the Indonesian government build the capital city of the archipelago (IKN). The plan, they will donate one Water Treatment Plant (IPA) or Water Treatment Plant.

Initially, Basuki said that the government wanted to find concrete results in the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) agenda which was held on May 18-25 in Bali. One form of this is grants from various countries which are interpreted in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

"If our wishes have concrete results, not just discussions or seminars," said Basuki when met by reporters at the PUPR Ministry office, Jakarta, Friday, April 26.

Therefore, Basuki said that one of the cooperation commitments that his party would sign in WWF was the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) or IPA.

The grant comes from South Korea for IKN development in East Kalimantan, which has a water capacity of 300 liters per second. Basuki also explained that the facility was being prepared in the field.

"Now there are preparations in the field, but the MoU will be used as a ceremonial in WWF," he said.

In addition, said Basuki, there are a number of other MoUs that will be signed by the government, namely with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Finland and Tunisia.

Even so, Basuki has not been able to confirm the amount of MoU and the grants that will be received by his party. Because, until now the Ministry of PUPR still receives many commitments to cooperation from various countries.

"It is not yet (can be ascertained how much MoU is) because it is still continuous (enters). Because it is still 25 days (again). Usually at the last moment they just confirm," he said.

The 10th World Water Forum focuses on four things, namely water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disaster.

A total of 244 sessions in the forum are expected to provide concrete results regarding the mainstreaming of integrated water management for small islands or Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) on Small Islands, the establishment of the center of excellence or the best practice for water and climate security or the Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience (COE) and the determination of World Lake Day.

The Indonesian government invited 43 ambassadors and 4 international organizations to participate and succeed in the 10th World Water Forum which will be held in Bali on 18 25 May 2024.
