Two Burglars Of Pulse Counter In Klaten Arrested, Police Admit Difficulties Because CCTV Footage Is Unclear

JAKARTA – JS (31) and JD (20) were arrested after police from the Klaten District Police conducted a hunt for the perpetrators of the theft at a pulse counter in Canan Village, Wedi District, Klaten, Central Java. The search for the suspect is hampered by CCTV footage that is not very clear, but the police have other ways to find out.

Wakapolres Klaten Kompol Sumiarta explained that the two perpetrators were arrested on Thursday, June 30, by the Klaten Police Resmob Team.

"Carried out the arrest of the perpetrator in Banyurip, Ngandong Village. Then the team carried out developments and arrested another suspect at 23:00 in Kijon, Bengking Village, Jatinom District." said Sumiarta in a written statement, Friday, July 1.

According to Sumiarta, the two suspects admitted that they had carried out their actions several times before being arrested. The Deputy Chief of Police also explained that before taking action, the perpetrators monitored the target location so that the action ran smoothly.

After making sure it was safe, continued Sumiarto, the perpetrators broke into the credit kiosk owned by EN, a resident of Slegeran, Kalitengah Village by entering through the roof of the house and then breaking the plasterboard. After being inside, continued Sumiarto, the perpetrators freely took the goods and money in the kiosk. The total amount taken was Rp. 22 million.

"First, do a survey of the location of the theft target with the target of an empty house. After getting a target, the perpetrators carry out their actions at night." he said.

KBO Satreskrim Polres Klaten, Iptu Eko Pujiyanto explained that the disclosure of this case was thanks to the CCTV footage in the victim's kiosk. It is recognized that the determination of these suspects cannot be done immediately and requires extra work. Because, said Eko, the recordings are not very clear.

"The recording because at night is a bit unclear. However, after an investigation was carried out, plus the testimonies of the surrounding community as well as the habits of the perpetrator passing the TKP (the crime scene) it became clear that the perpetrators were these people (JS and JD)." said Eko.

Suspects JS and JD admitted that they were desperate to steal to fulfill their daily needs. JS, who works as a casual laborer, feels that his income is insufficient. The suspects also admitted that they had committed 3 thefts.

Before stealing in Wedi, they also stole in the Karanganom sub-district and Bantul district, DIY.

For his actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison.
