CIAMIS - Ciamis Resort Police has named a tourist bus driver as a suspect in a bus accident case in Panumbangan, Ciamis Regency, West Java. The accident killed four people and injured several people.

"I convey that based on the results of the case conducted in the early hours of the morning, we have named the bus driver with the initials IP (43) as a suspect," said Ciamis Police Chief AKBP Tony Prasetyo Yudhangkoro as reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 25.

The Ciamis Police have conducted an investigation into the tourism bus accident that hit a vehicle and a resident's house, resulting in four deaths and 16 injuries on Jalan Raya Payungsari, Panumbangan District, Ciamis, Saturday (21/5) evening.

Based on the results of the investigation and the case title finally determined a suspect as a bus driver, and is currently being detained at the Ciamis Police Station for further legal examination.

"The suspect IP is currently being held in the detention room of the Ciamis Police Headquarters," said the Police Chief.

The PO Pandawa bus driver was charged with Article 310 paragraph (1), paragraph (2), paragraph (4) in conjunction with Article 312, then Article 310 regarding acts resulting from negligence which resulted in accidents and material damage, minor injuries and even death.

In addition to Article 312, because the suspect after the incident left the accident site or fled, and did not provide assistance to other victims, he was threatened with a sentence of one year to six years in prison.

"The penalty for punishment is paragraph 1, one year (imprisonment) and the most severe is paragraph 4 which results in the victim's death, the threat is six years in prison," said the police chief.

Previously, the tourism bus carrying a group from Tangerang, Banten was returning from a pilgrimage tour in Panjalu, Ciamis, then an accident occurred while at the derivative location.

The bus drove out of control then hit a number of vehicles and finally stopped after crashing into a house on Jalan Raya Payungsari, Panumbangan District, Ciamis, Saturday (21/5) at around 17.30 WIB.

The accident left four people dead, and 16 people injured and had to get medical treatment at the hospital.
