Observer: PJ Governor Of DKI Jakarta Must Resolve Floods And Congestion That Becomes Big PR Anies Baswedan

JAKARTA - The acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta who will replace Anies Baswedan is expected to be able to solve the problems of flooding and traffic jams which have always been homework.

The official began to carry out his work after Anies stepped down in October 2022 to 2024 after the simultaneous regional elections were held.

"Anyone who will be appointed by the president will be those who can continue what Anies has done. Especially big PRs that have not been completed until now, such as floods and traffic jams. That is a general problem for leaders in Jakarta," said political observer, Executive Director of Indonesian Political Parameters, Adi Prayitno. told reporters quoted on Sunday, January 23.

In addition, Adi said the acting governor was also expected to be able to carry out recovery in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Especially in the economic sector, unemployment and poverty rates are increasing. That's what Anies' replacement must have," he said.

Acting, continued Adi, ideally should be able to translate the vision and mission of the previous regional head. However, if the name turns out to have its own vision and mission, it doesn't matter as long as it's for the welfare of the community.

"He ideally translates from the vision and mission of the previous regional head. But we know that the PJ chosen represents the interests of the government. Yes, of course, most of their visions are in line with the vision and mission of the central government," said Adi.

"What is worried is that the official will not continue the development that has been carried out by the previous regional head. Sorry to say, many regional heads are not from the same party and that is what we are worried about, so there must be a fit and proper test," he added.

As previously reported, there are 101 regional heads at the district, city and provincial levels whose terms of office expire in 2022, including the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta.

To fill vacancies, the Ministry of Home Affairs will place an acting regional head who can be filled from ASN, TNI, and Polri until a new regional head is elected in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.
