Police Slam Students During Demonstrations, Brigadier NP Is Snared In Multiple Articles, Transferred And Difficult To Get Promoted

SERANG – Based on the results of an internal trial held by the Banten Police, Tangerang Police and supervised by the Propam Division of the National Police Headquarters, Brigadier NP was charged with multiple layers of articles. The trial which was held on Thursday, October 21, was chaired directly by the Head of Tangerang Police, Grand Commissioner Wahyu Sri Bintoro as the Legal Supervisor (Ankum) with full authority. The trial was also attended by Faris and three other students who were witnesses.

In the trial, the prosecution presented incriminating matters, namely the actions of the Brigadier NP which were excessive, outside the procedure, caused victims and could bring down the good name of the Police.

On the other hand, the companion of the alleged violator (NP) proposed mitigating things against Brigadier NP, namely admitting and regretting his actions, even apologizing directly to the victim.

In the trial it was also mentioned that during his 12 years of service to the National Police Brigadier NP without ever being disciplined, the code of ethics was also criminal. Brigadier NP is also said to be active in disclosing cases of public interest such as street crimes and murders.

After hearing the facts in the trial, the chairman of the trial, Wahyu Sri Bintoro, read out the verdict.

"Against Brigadier NP who has legally and convincingly violated the disciplinary rules of Polri members, Brigadier NP was given the toughest sanctions in layers ranging from detention in a special place for 21 days, demotional mutation to become a Tangerang Polresta Bintara without a position and giving a written warning which is administratively will result in Brigadier NP being delayed in promotion and constrained to follow further education," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Shinto Silitonga.

Shinto also said that the court's decision was a representation of the Banten Police Chief's firmness in following up on members' violations quickly, effectively, transparently and fairly.

Previously, it was reported that the demonstration to coincide with the 389th Anniversary of Tangerang Regency took place in chaos. A student named Faris was slammed to the floor by an officer.
