As A Government Partner, Regent Marthin Yogobi Asks The Church In Jayawijaya To Create A Crime-Free Environment

PAPUA - Jayawijaya Deputy Regent Marthin Yogobi asked the church to participate in creating an environment free from criminal acts, such as theft and murder.

This was conveyed by Marthin during the inauguration of the Church of Christ the Shepherd of Our Church in Pugima District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province, Tuesday, October 12. The church, explained Martin, is the government's partner in the field of spirituality and community development.

"So it can be said that security and peace in society are greatly influenced and determined through church services for all God's people in this area," he said as quoted by Antara.

He hopes that the newly inaugurated church can motivate Catholics in Pugima to always worship, fellowship, and serve others.

"This includes being a place for fostering families and people who are obedient to God, so that good morals and ethics are realized and are obedient to applicable religious norms, laws, and social norms," he said.

He said challenges and obstacles in the service of the people will certainly exist, but they must remain committed to serving God and putting God above all else.

"That way, any problems can be faced or resolved with God's blessing and protection," he said.

At the end of his remarks, the former head of the Social Service reminded local Catholics to continue to apply health protocols in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in their activities so as not to contract the new coronavirus.

"Because to this day we are still in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
