Xpeng Heitech Ready To Deliver Flying Cars In 2024

JAKARTA - Xpeng Heitech, a flying car startup backed by electric vehicle maker Xpeng Inc, stated on Wednesday, September 14 that it will start delivering flying cars to customers in 2024.

The company's founder, Zhao Deli, told the World New Energy Vehicle Congress forum that the Startup, founded in 2013 and funded by Xpeng and Xpeng Chief Executive He Xiaopeng, now employs 400 people and will expand its workforce to 700 by the end of the year.

"The Heitech Xpeng model will be able to drive on the highway", said Zhao with confidence. The electric flying car will be able to travel more than 600 kilometers (370 miles) on highways on a single charge, but Zhao didn't say how far it could fly each time.

Other automakers developing flying cars in China, including Geely's Terrafugia, are also building factories in the central city of Wuhan. Meanwhile, Volkswagen AG is also studying the industry in China.

Regulators in China, however, have yet to release detailed rules on these flying vehicles. They have not given permission how this car will fly to the corners of the city or region in the country.
