East Jakarta Samsat Criticized By Extortion, Here Are 5 Ways Metro Police Ditlantas Clean Up

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Traffic of the Metro Jaya Police has prepared various steps to overcome the practice of illegal levies (extortion) in (Samsat) One-Stop Single Administration System and (Satpas) Administrative Service Unit.

These steps follow a tweet from anti-corruption activist, Emerson Yuntho, who said that extortion was still rampant in the East Jakarta Samsat.

"There are several efforts to prevent extortion at the Satpas or Samsat", said Traffic Director of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, in his statement, Wednesday, September 15.

There are at least five ways that have been done. First, by reducing the interaction between officers and applicants. Thus, the chance of fraud is getting smaller.

"Reducing interactions between officers and the community being served by building IT-based online systems such as the SINAR application for sim renewal, SIONDEL, and SIGNAL for vehicle registration extensions (STNK), ETLE for ticketing tickets and others", said Sambodo.

The second way is to increase supervision. For example, by installing CCTV in various corners to monitor the performance of officers.

Next, open the complaint box or public complaint counter. Thus, public complaints will be channeled and become evaluation material.

"The fourth way is to write various service posts 'No Charges', and the fifth is by giving strict rewards and punishments to members caught committing extortion", said Sambodo.

Strict action will be given to members who are caught playing naughty, continued Sambodo, by giving sanctions. Ranging from reprimands to demotion.

"There is a mechanism for a disciplinary hearing or a code of ethics trial, there are demotion mutations, demotion, and so on", said Sambodo.
