Ahead Of The Rainy Season, Deputy Governor Of DKI Riza Patria Asks Residents To Get Ready For Facing Floods
JAKARTA - The rainy season will come in one more month. DKI Jakarta is a province that subscribes to flooding during the rainy season.
Therefore, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria asked residents to be prepared for flooding, especially for residents who live in lowlands and riverbanks.
"Residents who live on the banks of the river are always a concern. Therefore, cooperation from all parties, including the community, is needed to be prepared", said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Thursday, September 9.
In addition to anticipation from residents, Riza said the DKI Provincial Government continues to make efforts to prevent flooding. One of them is dredging rivers to reservoirs. In fact, the dredging intensity is doubled.
"Dredging continues to be increased even in two shifts, eight hours each. Later it will be arranged in places that do not disturb residents", said Riza.

However, Riza admitted that the current flood control efforts in Jakarta could not directly prevent the capital city from being inundated by floods. After all, the Jakarta flood problem has been around for a long time.
"This flood has not been completed in 1 to 2 years. In fact, the flood problem has not been resolved for years", he said.
"Not only in Jakarta, but in big cities around the world, we see floods for ourselves on TV. Big cities that are modern are also flooded", he continued.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan chaired a meeting with the DKI Provincial Government to anticipate flooding in the rainy season.
In the near future, Anies will hold a flood alert meeting with all related ranks. Then, the community is expected to anticipate flooding in their respective environments.
