JAKARTA - Two robbers have been arrested by the Cempaka Putih Police after carrying out a robbery in the Cempaka Putih area. The two perpetrators were caught stealing the victim's cellphone belonging to a pedestrian.
It was later discovered that the two perpetrators were Fiqi (25) a resident of Cakung and Somad (24) a resident of Pulogadung. Both were arrested by residents during their action on Cempaka Putih Tengah IV Street, near the Islamic Hospital, East Cempaka Putih Village, Cempaka Putih District, Central Jakarta.
Cempaka Putih Police Chief Kompol Ade Rosa confirmed the report received by the Cempaka Putih Police for the reporter named Wiwid (41) a resident of Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
The incident began after the victim finished buying credit and walked on Jalan Cempaka Putih Tengah IV. The victim was walking while holding the cellphone in his right hand.
"Two men came using a Honda Beat motorbike from the right side of the victim and immediately took the victim's cellphone. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 4, yesterday", said the Sector Police Chief to VOI, Tuesday, September 7.

Realizing that his cellphone was taken, the victim immediately shouted snatch at the motorbike of the two perpetrators. Hearing the screams of the victims, residents around the location immediately looked for the direction of the screams. After it was discovered that the perpetrator's motorbike was driving without direction, the residents tried to catch up.
As a result, the panicked perpetrator fell to the ground after the motorbike he was driving hit another motorist. When he fell, the perpetrator was arrested by residents who saw and joined the pursuit of the mugging incident.
"The perpetrator had become a target for the residents. Fortunately, the perpetrator was arrested by officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit, then the perpetrator, victim, and evidence were secured to the Cempaka Putih Police for further processing", he said.
The two perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding the theft by weight. The police also confiscated evidence of the victim's cellphone and a beat motorcycle belonging to the perpetrator of the robbery.
The police chief appealed to the public not to play with cellphones on the streets because street crimes always stalk the weaknesses of the victims.
"Don't play with your cellphone and carry your cellphone in your hand while on the road. It's better to put it in your pocket or a safe place. Residents must always be vigilant while on the road or while driving", he urged.
The police chief said, to anticipate street crimes, residents must also be aware of their surroundings when on the road.
"Because the danger is not only from victims of crime, but traffic accidents can cause material losses", he said.
