Anies Baswedan: Only 2.3 Percent Of Jakarta Residents Were Exposed To COVID-19 After Being Vaccinated

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan revealed that only a few residents were still exposed to COVID-19 even though they had received the vaccine. Based on the data it has, only 2.3 percent of Jakarta residents are exposed to COVID-19 even though they have been vaccinated.

He said the percentage was based on data compiled by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government from last January-July.

"Data in Jakarta shows that for those who have been vaccinated, the number exposed is only 2.3 percent," Anies said in an online discussion, Sunday, August 22.

The former Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) also said the fatality rate of exposure to COVID-19 for patients who had been vaccinated only reached 0.033 percent or 30 people out of 100 thousand patients. However, this happens because they have a comorbid disease.

"Has anyone experienced a fatality? There are 0.033 percent or 30 out of 100 thousand people. Who are they, they are people who have health problems, severe comorbidities," said Anies.

"That's why we find cases like this but generally protected by vaccines," he added.

Meanwhile, for vaccination data in DKI Jakarta, he said that currently it has exceeded the target or reached 103 percent. As of today, said Anies, the number has even reached 9.4 million.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the COVID-19 vaccine is like a helmet to provide protection. However, people still have to be careful and obey health protocols to prevent exposure to COVID-19.

"This is to explain because there are those who think that you still get it even though you have been vaccinated. Yes, (wearing, red) helmets can still crash depending on how we operate the vehicle. But even if you fall, wearing a helmet is safer," concluded Anies.
