Yusuf Demir Becomes Barcelona's Youngest Foreign Debutant After Lionel Messi, He's Only 18 Years 80 Days Old
JAKARTA - Young player Yusuf Demir became Barcelona's youngest foreign debutant after Lionel Messi in La Liga for his club on Saturday, OptaFranz's statistics report said on Sunday.
Demir became the youngest foreign player to appear for the Catalan club in La Liga after replacing Martin Braithwaite in the 60th minute of Barcelona's 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao.
It was the winger's first time appearing for Barcelona in a competitive game since joining this summer.
At 18 years and 80 days, he is the youngest non-Spanish player to represent the Blaugrana in La Liga since Lionel Messi did so almost 17 years ago.
The Argentina captain made his La Liga debut for Barcelona in October 2004 aged 17 years and 114 days.
Demir joined the Blaugrana from Rapid Vienna in July in an initial loan deal that included an option to buy 10 million euros.
