Inter Milan Vs Genoa 4-0: Brilliant Debuts Of Calhanoglu And Dzeko

JAKARTA - Hakan Calhanoglu and Edin Dzeko made brilliant debuts to help Inter Milan win the opening match of the Italian League 2021/22 season. The Nerazzurri successfully silenced Genoa 4-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Saturday local time.

Calhanoglu, who crossed from city rivals AC Milan, and Dzeko, who left AS Roma for Inter, marked their debuts with one goal and one assist each.

The other two Inter goals were scored by Milan Skriniar and Arturo Vidal, in order to continue the positive trend of the Nerazzurri who have always won their season opener in the last three seasons.

As reported by Antara, Sunday, the defending champions are temporarily entrenched at the top of the standings, while Genoa (0), who had to be willing to lose their unbeaten trend in the last five season openers, was stranded as caretaker.

Inter, who started a new era under Simone Inzaghi, was aggressive from the start and in the sixth minute took the lead when Calhanoglu's corner was headed home by Skriniar to beat goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.

The lead was doubled in the 14th minute, when another Inter debutant, Edin Dzeko, slotted in a pass that Calhanoglu completed accurately from the edge of the box.

The match continued to be dominated by the hosts but Inter could only extend their lead in the 74th minute through Vidal's goal. Starting from Dzeko's curling shot that Sirigu failed to stop, the ball was reproduced by Nicolo Barella with a backheel for Vidal to finish from close range.

Three minutes after the goal, Calhanoglu made his debut and was replaced by young Uruguayan talent Martin Satriano, who was also making his first appearance since signing from Nacional.

Inter's victory was complemented by Dzeko's debut goal three minutes before dispersal, with his flagship header welcoming Vidal's accurate cross to close the match 4-0 over Genoa.

In their next match, Inter travels to Verona on Friday, 27 August, two days before Genoa host Napoli.
