Jakarta Records 727 New COVID-19 Cases Today, Active Cases Decrease

JAKARTA - There was an addition of 727 COVID-19 cases in Jakarta today. Thus, the total number of confirmed cases in Jakarta as of today is 832,226 cases.

Head of Disease Prevention and Control Division, DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office, Dwi Oktavia said the number of active cases in Jakarta had decreased by 286 cases, bringing the number of active cases to date as many as 10,356 people who are still being treated or isolated.

"From the total number of positive cases, a total of 809,087 people were declared cured with a cure rate of 97.2 percent, and a total of 12,783 people died with a mortality rate of 1.5 percent", Dwi said in his statement, Monday, August 9.

The positivity rate or percentage of positive cases in the last week in Jakarta was 10.9 percent, while the percentage of positive cases in total was 15.1 percent.

For the record, the World Health Organization (WHO) also sets the standard for the percentage of positive cases of no more than 5 percent.

In the last week, 123,290 people were tested by PCR in the capital city. Meanwhile, the total number of PCR tests in DKI Jakarta has now reached 516,968 per million population.

"Jakarta has exceeded this target for some time. The WHO target for PCR testing is 1,000 people per million population per week. This means that the WHO target for Jakarta is a minimum of 10,645 people tested per week", she explained.

Furthermore, until now DKI has vaccinated as many as 8,507,635 people (95.2 percent), with a total of 136,445 people being vaccinated in a 1-day dose.

Then, the total dose 2 has now reached 3,532,646 people (39.5 percent), with the number of people being vaccinated with the 2-day dose as many as 116,682 people. The current target for vaccination in DKI Jakarta is 8,941,211 people.

More specifically, the achievement of vaccination for children aged 12-17 years, for dose 1 has been carried out as much as 77.7 percent and for dose 2 as much as 7.2 percent. For residents aged 18-59 years, 99.1 percent of dose 1 has been vaccinated and 40 percent of dose 2 has been vaccinated.

In the elderly group, 83.2 percent of dose 1 had been vaccinated and 70.6 percent of dose 2 had been vaccinated. Meanwhile, cooperation vaccination, for dose 1 has been given to 172,781 people and dose 2 as many as 123,034 people.
