Refocusing On COVID-19 Budget, Tanjungpinang City Government Cancels Buying A Rp663 Million Car For Mayor Rahma

KEPRI - Tanjungpinang City Government, Riau Islands (Kepri), denied buying a new sedan type official car worth Rp663 million for the Mayor through the 2021 Fiscal Year APBD.

"It is not true that the Setdako (City Regional Secretariat) bought an official car this year. It has been budgeted for, but it has been refocused for the more important handling of COVID-19," said Head of the General and Equipment Section of the Setdako Tanjungpinang Suherlan quoted from Antara, Monday, July 26.

Suherlan did not deny that in 2020 planning, the procurement of the number one official car in Tanjungpinang City has been budgeted for in 2021.

However, he said, because this year the government still has to focus on handling COVID-19, all budgets that are not included in the priority category will be refocused.

"Including the budget for the mayor's official car, it has been removed," said Suherlan.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Tanjungpinang Rahma confirmed that the purchase of the car had been canceled because it was inappropriate to carry out at this time.

"Our condition is in a pandemic and we need a budget, so it's not good to buy an official car. That's why I ordered the procurement to be removed and not purchased," said Rahma.
