PAN Party Faction: Health Facilities Must Be Accessible Evenly
JAKARTA - The PAN faction encourages the government so that health facilities can be accessed equally by all people.
Commission IX member of the House of Representatives (DPR), Saleh Daulay, in a Commission IX meeting with the Minister of Health and National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) on Tuesday, July 13, explained the importance of preparing health facilities for people exposed to COVID-19.
"I explained that two of my wife's cousins died last week due to COVID-19. One lives in Bekasi and the other in Bengkulu. My wife's cousin died because she did not receive treatment at the hospital and ICU", said Saleh when contacted by VOI, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 14.
"I mentioned that I had contacted Sulianti Saroso Hospital. Because I was still in line, it was too late and couldn't be helped", he added.
When telling this story, Saleh continued, he also explained the incident faced by John Siffin Mirin, a member of the PAN Party faction who died because he was late and was also taken to the ICU.
"I added that there was a friend of ours, Doctor Rosaline, who was very devastated by the incident. Until she emotionally proposed special treatment for members of the House of Representatives", he said.
"But I mentioned in the meeting that what Mrs. Rosaline said was very emotional and in a sad situation. It was not conveyed from her heart", added Saleh.

In this context, he said, what was conveyed at the meeting was not meant to exaggerate the officials or members of the DPR.
"What I said was how the government should prepare qualified health facilities to treat all COVID-19 patients, without exception and without distinction of social class", he said.
"I attended the meeting until it was over. I helped ensure that the proposal regarding the provision of health facilities, medical devices, especially the ICU and medicines, etc. was included in the conclusion. That is in conclusion number 4 letter (a)", said Saleh.
That way, he added, there was no intention or direction from yesterday's conversation to discriminate between people.
"In fact, all this time I have been fighting for health services to be easily accessible to the public. Everyone has the same rights in the field of health services. That is a constitutional mandate that must be maintained", he said.
