Challenges TikTok, YouTube Shorts Finally Expanded To 100 Countries
JAKARTA - Seeing the success of TikTok, other social media giants immediately competed to provide similar services. Recently YouTube has also done the same thing by expanding its YouTube Shorts service.
After a limited release in India at the end of last year and a beta in the US in early 2021, YouTube has finally expanded its Shorts service, which it claims to be a competitor to TikTok to 100 countries.
When the company first introduced the format, anyone could see Shorts. However, only those in about two dozen countries can access the tools YouTube has created for recording and editing short films.

With today's announcement, the company is making the service widely available, meaning users will see more clips appearing on the Google-owned platform.
YouTube added the ability for Shorts creators to sample audio from its app videos, and the company is currently testing to offer a quick link from Shorts to the YouTube videos they sampled.
YouTube's move towards the short-form video service comes just as TikTok itself is becoming a bit more like YouTube. In early July, the company, after months of testing, gave all its users the ability to record clips of up to three minutes.
TikTok says its goal is to give content creators more flexibility, especially for those creating cooking and beauty tutorials. Now, the application is also available on TV platforms such as Android TV and Fire TV. This was quoted from Engadget, Tuesday, July 13.
