60 Minutes Of Gunfight With Papuan KKB Egianus Group, Two TNI Soldiers Injured

JAKARTA - Two soldiers from Battalion 751/VJS were injured in a shootout with the armed criminal group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya in Mapnduma District, Nduga Regency, Papua, Tuesday, July 13.

"Two soldiers were indeed injured in a shootout with Egianus's group", said Pangdam XVII Cenderawasih, Major General TNI Ignatius Yogo Triyono, as reported by Antara, in Jayapura, Tuesday, July 13 evening​​​​​.

The gunbattle took place at around 11.30 WIT at the Mapnduma Post. This post is guarded by members of Battalion 751/VJS who are members of the security task force for vulnerable areas.

In a firefight, two soldiers were injured, namely First Lieutenant Inf. Sukma suffered a wound on the forehead due to being hit by shrapnel from a bullet and Praka Hamid was injured in the hip.

"Both of them were evacuated at 14.30 WIT to Timika. Currently, they are still being treated at the Timika Regional Hospital", said TNI Major General Yogo.

He revealed that the shootout between soldiers and the KKB led by Egianus lasted about 60 minutes.

Earlier, on Tuesday, July 6, Egianus' group also opened fire on members on duty in Yall District who were securing the arrival of logistics sent by helicopter.

As a result, said the Military Commander, three members of Battalion 310/KK were injured, namely, Praka Sigit suffered a gunshot wound to the waist, Pratu Masmur suffered a bullet wound to the head, and Prada Rudi suffered a wound on the upper lip that was hit by a rekoset bullet.
