Good News From Tanjungpinang, Self-Isolated Patients Can Smile Because They Get Basic Food Assistance From The Government

JAKARTA - COVID-19 patients undergoing self-isolation at home receive food assistance in the form of basic needs from the Tanjungpinang City Government, Riau Islands in collaboration with the local Baznas.

Tanjungpinang Mayor Rahma said the COVID-19 condition in Tanjungpinang today has passed the normal threshold. According to her, from a population of only 224,000, as of Thursday, July 8, there were 1,417 active positive cases recorded.

"How will the economy go, if today there are 1,417 residents who cannot move because they are positive, not to mention their families who have to undergo independent isolation," said Rahma, after providing assistance at Pinang Hijau Housing, Batu IX Village, Friday, July 9.

Moreover, said Rahma, with the issuance of the Minister of Home Affairs Instruction Number 17 of 2021 regarding the extension of PPKM tightening. In the instruction, Tanjungpinang is included in 43 regencies/cities outside Java and Bali that are affected by the tightening of Micro PPKM.

The rule, she continued, must be implemented together until July 20, 2021. All community activities in crowded places are limited in time.

"Only the essential sector can operate 100 percent. Apart from that, there are regulations limiting operating hours until 17.00 western Indonesia time," said Rahma.

Rahma also asked the entire community and business actors to comply with the PPKM tightening rules set by the Central Government and circulars.

"Currently, we are still limited by time, we have hours. However, if until July 20 we do not succeed in reducing the number of cases, then it is not impossible that there are even stricter rules," she explained.

Meanwhile, the East Tanjungpinang sub-district head, Dody, said that the total residents in the area who underwent self-isolation were 73 families (KK) with the details of 55 poor families and 18 non-Muslim families.

Specifically, in Batu 9 Village, 41 families were given consisting of 25 poor families and 16 non-Muslim families who couldn't afford it. "The assistance received was in the form of rice, sugar, eggs, and milk," said Dody.
