Equips F-15 Fighter Jets With Anti-jamming Technology, Boeing Cooperates With Israeli Company
JAKARTA - The leading aircraft manufacturer Boeing announced that it will integrate an anti-jamming system developed by the Israeli company Elbit System for its F-15 fighter jet fleet.
Without mentioning the buyer of this special order fighter jet, Boeing International F-15 Program Director Lauren Gramlich said the addition of the Elbit system was to meet the operational requirements demanded by the order.
Meanwhile, the Israel-based Elbit explained, the application of the technology developed by it, is able to provide uninterrupted GPS operation, provide protection from interference when using satellite channels, to handle some disturbing signals, Elbit said as quoted by Reuters on Monday, June 21.
Having a reputation as a defense electronics specialist, Elbit already has the technology systems used on the F-15 and F-15EX, including a digital helmet-mounted signaling system, low profile head display, and large-area cockpit display.
"After careful evaluation of similar systems, the Elbit Systems solution was chosen for its proven performance and ease of integration," said Lauren Gramlich, citing The Jerusalem Post.
"Elbit's iSNS anti-jamming system will meet the demanding operational requirements of this valuable customer, and it demonstrates Boeing's commitment to partnering with Israeli industry to advance the capabilities of the F-15 platform."
iSNS (Immunity Satellite Navigation System) was developed and manufactured by Elbit Systems in Israel. It is an effective GPS electronic countermeasure system (ECCS) that ensures reliable and uninterrupted operation of the GPS.
This system provides full jamming immunity for multiple satellite channels and handles multiple interference signals operating on the same frequency.
The modular system is designed for use in a variety of land, air, and sea applications, including armored fighting vehicles, C4I artillery systems, unmanned aerial systems, combat aircraft, and naval vessels such as submarines. Unlike other systems, the platform can continue to navigate when close to an enemy jammer.
"We are proud to be selected by Boeing to supply our unique iSNS technology for the F-15 platform," said Edgar Maimon, executive vice president, and co-general manager of Elbit Systems ISTAR and EW.
"Elbit Systems is Boeing's long-term supplier, particularly for the F-15 program, meeting quality, delivery times, and cost requirements. The F-15 has been a key platform in our portfolio for more than two decades, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration. with Boeing in the future."
