The National Human Rights Commission Better Reveal The Shooting Of A Journalist Case Than Deal With National Insight Test

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) was asked to come down directly to reveal the shooting case of a journalist and editor-in-chief of a local media in North Sumatra, Marasalem Harahap, who was shot by an unknown person (OTK) not far from his home on Saturday, June 19, early morning.

Political communication expert Emrus Sihombing assessed that the incident should be suspected as a violation of basic human rights. He also urged Komnas HAM to be more proactive in revealing humanitarian issues rather than being trapped in spending energy on matters that are not part of their work.

"Instead of dealing with the status transfer test at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which is still debatable from the aspect of human rights, Komnas HAM should be proactive and focus on revealing the case of the journalist shooting", Emrus told reporters on Monday, June 21.

According to him, in addition to potentially silencing freedom of communication or the press which is a fundamental right of every human being, events that take a person's life away are truly human rights violations. Including the victim's tax when he was still alive.
