Introducing Tourist Areas Through Social Media, Kediri Is One Of Them

JAKARTA - Indonesia is a "paradise" of tourist attractions. There are thousands of tourist attractions that can be visited from Sabang to Merauke, one of which is Kediri.

However, not all places or tourist areas are able to attract many visitors. Lack of promotion is a problem in itself.

One of the areas in East Java, Kediri, has now become a tourist magnet for many tourists both from within and outside the country. This is inseparable from the incessant promotion on social media.

An influencer named Bryan Geovanny, founded Explore Kediri since 2014 to encourage tourism activities in the City of Students. In the Explore Kediri Instagram account, it focuses on tourist attractions in the city and the Residency.

"So for friends who feel the photos are good, just use the hashtag #explorekediri, if you have used the Explore Kediri hashtag, we will select the photos, if the photos are good we will repost them on our account," said Bryan in the BAKTI Kominfo discussion with the theme "Utilization of ICT for Education and Business", quoted by VOI, Thursday 17 June.

According to him, there are a lot of tourist attractions in Kediri, either in the City or Regency. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the tourism sector in Kediri enough.

"Now it's a pandemic, so there are some places that are still closed. Like yesterday, Mount Kelud just opened, but it's limited to go there or the number of people is not like before the pandemic," he explained

Furthermore, Bryan said, in Kediri there are still many tourist attractions that have not been exposed. This is because he does not want any disturbance if the place is too exposed.

Explore Kediri itself, he said, started when he and four other founders came to two places once a week and captured the moment of the trip using their cellphone.

"Initially in 2014, we went to Mount Kelud every week, to Simpang Lima Gumul, to the waterfall. In the past, we all explored using cellphones," he concluded.
