Being Banned By The US, Huawei And ZTE Have Succeeded In Controlling The Global 5G Market Instead

JAKARTA - The United States (US) has banned a large number of Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE from participating in building 5G infrastructure. As a result, other countries affiliated with America also banned the two companies.

Cited from Gizmochina, Wednesday, June 16, this happened because Huawei was accused of being a spy for the Chinese government in processing user data. In fact, the allegations do not affect global markets.

Based on data released by Omdia, Huawei and ZTE are the largest global market leaders in 5G infrastructure in the first quarter of 2021. Next are Ericsson and Nokia in terms of 5G NR (New Radio) shipments.

Whereas in terms of 5G NR revenue, Huawei still leads the market, followed by Ericsson in second place. ZTE is in third place with a significant increase from 5.8 percent in the same period last year to 16.4 percent this year.

Furthermore, in terms of 5G development, the speed and intensity of investment in the Asia-Pacific region are very large, followed by North America and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa).

Finally, by the first quarter of 2021, China had built a total of 819.000 5G BTS, accounting for more than 70 percent of 5G BTS in use globally, covering cities above the prefecture-level in the country.
