Member Of Commission I Of The House Of Representatives Mentions The Importance Of Utilizing Technology For Education And Business

JAKARTA - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission I, Rizki Sadig, said that information technology has been very developed at this time. According to him, it was not even thought of in the last 1 to 2 years.

"Some time ago, maybe 1 to 2 years ago, I never thought that dependence on information technology was so powerful, so extraordinary and almost filled all aspects of life, especially in the field of education and also in the business sector", he said in a statement at a virtual discussion initiated by Information and Technology Accessibility Agency (BAKTI Kominfo) with the theme "Utilization of ICT for Education and Business", quoted on Thursday, June 10.

Rizki said that what is felt the most is in the world of education, where children are now all carrying out teaching and learning activities at home virtually.

"Although the government has already decided, God willing, in July there will be face-to-face learning because education is not only about how to gain knowledge in theory but also how to socialize with friends, with the environment and so on, that is one of the meanings of education", he explained.

According to him, Indonesia still needs to further improve its readiness to "welcome" current technological developments.

"This is because developed countries may be much more prepared to deal with it because they have adopted information and communication technology as a means that needs to be improved", he said.

Rizki further said that this momentum should not be used too much as a trial. It is precisely something that is difficult to use as an initial stepping stone to increase capacity as one of the people who is able to adapt to the conditions of the times.

This is also related to businesses in the country which are considered to have led to digitalization. According to Rizki, there are many businesses that arise spontaneously from home, by buying and selling online.

"In the past, we saw that transportation means were controlled in a conventional way. For example, a taxi company, which had to buy a car, had to have a large parking area for its parking space, but today, all transportation companies minimize the need, there is no need to have such a large parking lot. There is no need to invest in buying transportation equipment as a means to deliver or serve customers, it is enough to create a technology information system", he explained.

Not only that, in the payment system, people are currently "pampered" by various platforms that make it easy.

"In the past, you had to go everywhere if you wanted to make a transaction, you had to carry money, you had to bring a wallet, you had to carry a bag, and so on. Today, payment transactions are only with non-cash financial transactions. There used to be ATMs. Today, transfers using mobile phones are even more developed. OVO payment tools or e-money or whatever, many applications then grow and develop as a means of payment", he concluded.
