Anies Asks Every Office To Give Incentives To Employees Who Ride Bikes

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked every company in the capital to provide incentives for their employees who go to the office by bicycle.

"What we want to encourage is that we hope that companies in each office will provide incentives for those who ride bicycles", said Anies at the Ministry of Transportation office, Central Jakarta, Friday, June 4.

According to Anies, the incentives that can be given are insurance premium subsidies to facilitate activities in the office, to bicycle credit incentives.

"So, we have a common interest to make residents healthier, the city cleaner, and later we will feel the atmosphere of an urban city which is generally healthier", said Anies.

To employees who feel they cannot use bicycles on their way home and to work, Anies suggested they use bicycles for short-distance activities. The bicycle can be placed in an office environment.

"Prepare a bicycle to go to lunch, ride a bicycle. Go to a nearby meeting, ride a bicycle. Short distance activities, use a bicycle. So, even if you can't ride a bicycle to the office, at least there is a bicycle in the office to come to the meeting. That way, we can really use bicycles as a means of transportation", he explained.

Not only that, but Anies also asked building managers in DKI to have an obligation to provide bicycle parking spaces of at least 10 percent of the available parking spaces specifically for bicycles.

"We also recommend that a place to rinse be prepared. Thus, making it easier for workers who choose to go to work using the bicycle, there is comfort because when they arrive there are parking facilities and other supporting facilities", he said.
