Ministry Of Transportation Monitors The Robinson R44 Helicopter Accident Incident At Buperta Cibubur

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transportation continues to monitor incidents of training aircraft accidents with registration PK-RTO and the type of Helicopter Robinson R44 aircraft belonging to the pilot school of PT. Genesa Dirgantara at Lake Bumi Perkemahan and Graha Wisata (Buperta) Cibubur, on Friday, May 28.

Director-General of Air Transportation, Novie Riyanto said his party had received reports of incidents experienced by the trainer aircraft with instructor pilot Langga Adiyanto Triyoga and pilot student Raja Sapta Oktohari was found safe.

"We have received the report, we are currently coordinating regarding the incident and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) is investigating the incident", Novie said in a press release in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Saturday, May 29.

Novie said the training aircraft departed from the Scout Movement Aerospace Education Center (Pusdirga) via the Wiladatika Airport Helipad, Depok at 09.30 a.m. local time.

Then the aircraft carried out circuit flight training with a flying pattern around the location of the departure helipad with the distance and flying rules referring to VFR (Visual Flight rules). At 09.45 a.m. local time, the plane lost contact with the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) Halim Perdanakusuma Airport until finally the plane was found to have crashed in Lake Buperta Cibubur at 09.50 a.m. local time.

With this incident, Director General Novie appealed to all flight schools in Indonesia to always prioritize safety and flight security. "To all air transportation service providers to always prioritize flight safety and security, so as to prevent risky things from happening", he concluded.
