Meeting With Alvaro's Family, Komnas PA Calls Cases Of Violence Against Children Frequent

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas PA) DKI Jakarta Cornelia Agatha gave support to the family of a late boy named Alvaro Kiano Nugroho (6) who went missing at Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta.

"Especially providing system support to families, we always communicate because support is very important," Cornelia told reporters in Jakarta, Monday, November 24.

He also admitted that he came to Alvaro's residence to calm the boy's grandfather and grandmother who were grieving.

The support was also given because the family received news that Alvaro had been found, but unfortunately he was dead.

Cornelia admitted that since the beginning of the case of the disappearance of Alvaro, Komnas PA has given attention and visited her residence in Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta.

"Of course, in my opinion, this must exist. First, collective sensitivity between communities, when there are signs of potential threats about children, we must be sensitive, of course we can avoid, protect together," said Cornelia.

He added that cases of alleged violence against children or cases of missing children still often occur in Indonesia. Therefore, the system of strengthening child protection must be improved, especially among the community.

Previously, the police revealed that the perpetrator of the murder Alvaro was the stepfather of the boy.

"The perpetrator is his stepfather Alvaro," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Nicolas Ary Lilipaly.

His stepfather is known to have been married to Alvaro's mother since 2023 and had planned to divorce.

The police then found Alvaro, who had been missing since March 2025 at Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, who was in a state of death.

The Pesanggrahan Police stated that the suspect in the case of the disappearance of Alvaro had also been arrested for questioning.

However, his party has not been able to provide much information regarding the cause of the death of the victim because it is still being investigated.

The police said the surveillance camera (CCTV) footage around the victim's house that was deleted daily and not stored was one of the obstacles in the search for the child.

In addition, the family also reported that Alvaro's disappearance was inappropriate on the day the incident took place.

However, the police continue to seek information that comes from the testimony of witnesses, schools, families, and direct messages (DM) on Instagram social media, as well as the police chief's complaint channel.

Alvaro has been missing for eight months. His whereabouts have been undetected since Thursday, March 6, 2025.
