Police Investigate Cause Of Intensive Settlement Fire Kills One Family In South Kalimantan

JAKARTA - Police are investigating the death of a family in a fire in a densely populated residential area on Jalan Aes Nasution Gang Binjai, Gadang Village, Central Banjarmasin (Banteng), South Kalimantan (Kalsel).

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Banjarmasin Police, Ipda Raihan Fakhri, said the fire occurred at around 05.02 WITA.

"After collecting data on the fire, eight houses burned down where four houses were heavily damaged, and four houses were slightly damaged," he said in Banjarmasin, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.

In the accident, there were three victims who died who were one known family named Tusradi (50), Marini (46) and Nur Haliza (11).

"The three victims who were suspected of being burned to death were father, mother and child whose address was at Gang Silaturrahim RT04/RW01, Gadang Village, Central Banjarmasin District," explained Ipda Raihan.

Furthermore, Ipda Raihan said, to cause a fire that burned eight units of residents' houses, his party was currently investigating.

As for the crime scene and the house found by the dead victims, police lines have been installed for investigation purposes.

"For one family who died in the fire accident, it was evacuated by a joint emergency team who were in the field at that time to help extinguish the blazing fire," he said.
