Head Of Madrasahs In Jambi Allegedly Obscene 19 Students, House Of Representatives Commission XIII: Perpetrators Must Be Strictly Punished

JAKARTA - Member of Commission XIII DPR, Anisah Syakur highlighted the sexual crimes committed by the Head of Madrasah in Merangin Regency, Jambi, who allegedly molested 19 of his students since 2003. He asked the perpetrator to be punished severely if he was proven to have committed the crime.

"We are concerned about the rampant cases of sexual crimes that occur in educational circles, including in madrasas. This case must be followed up quickly by the police to investigate the perpetrators," Anisah told reporters, Friday, November 7.

"If the perpetrator is legally proven to have committed sexual crimes against his students, the perpetrator must be severely punished," said the PKB politician.

Anisah assessed that the police must move quickly to follow up on reports of victims of sexual abuse committed by the alleged perpetrator. According to him, the actions of the perpetrators cannot be tolerated on behalf of any name because they have committed sexual crimes.

"Moreover, the alleged perpetrator is an educator, so he should be severely punished so that there is a deterrent effect," he said.

According to the member of the DPR's Human Rights Commission, cases of sexual crimes that occur in educational circles are ironic. Because schools and madrasas that should be a comfortable place to learn and protect all parties from criminal cases are instead unsafe places. Moreover, in an educational environment, normal values are taught.

"But if this sexual crime case occurs in the school environment, where is the sense of security for students to take education? This means that schools or madrasas fail to provide protection for a sense of security and free from any sexual crime or crime," said the legislator from the East Java electoral district.

Anisah said, cases of sexual crime in an educational environment are like icebergs, where what appears to be just a surface. Therefore, it takes the role of the government and society to jointly reduce the number of sexual violence in various forms in educational institutions.

"This cannot be allowed if the perpetrators are left alone or not severely punished, then there will be cases after cases which means that women do not have a sense of security wherever they are," he said.

In addition, Anisah also requested that victims of sexual crimes get psychological assistance to relieve their trauma.

"What the victims experience must receive special assistance. Do not let them live with guilt. This assistance is important to restore the psychological side of those who are injured for what they are experiencing," he concluded.
