JAKARTA - The Southeast Sulawesi (Southeast Sulawesi) COVID-19 Handling Task Force Team said that as many as 216 residents in the province had died from being infected with SARS-CoV-2.

A spokesperson for the Southeast Sulawesi COVID-19 Task Force La Ode Rabiul Awal in Kendari, Wednesday, said that from 17 districts All regions in Southeast Sulawesi have died due to being infected with the coronavirus.

"The addition of the latest death cases on May 17, 2021, is a 51-year-old woman from Buton Regency," he said.

He mentioned, the distribution of COVID-19 patients died in Southeast Sulawesi, including 14 people in Buton Regency, 14 Muna, Konawe 20, Kolaka 15, South Konawe 15, Bombana eight, Wakatobi two, North Kolaka 14, North Buton seven, North Konawe two, East Kolaka six and Konawe Islands one person.

"Furthermore, West Muna Regency four people, Central Buton three, South Buton four, Kendari City 59 and Baubau City 28 people," he said.

Meanwhile, he continued, positive cases of COVID-19 were 10,470 recorded, but 10,099 of them have been declared cured of the virus infection.

"Until now there are only 155 patients undergoing isolation for the recovery period," he said.

He emphasized that all parties should always be disciplined in applying health protocols to prevent a spike in cases and maintaining a sloping trend of cases, especially at this time vaccination has not yet targeted the general public, but only medical personnel, public officials, and the elderly groups.

"We should not be careless in applying health protocol by wearing a mask, keep the distance, wash the hands so that we can really break the chain of spreading COVID-19 in our area," said Rabiul.
