SBY On DPR Allowance Demo For Days: Realizing We Must Take Care Of Dialogue

JAKARTA - The 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) assessed the demonstrations that occurred in a number of regions in Indonesia in recent times as a reminder of the importance of maintaining dialogue and togetherness.

"If a while ago, call it about 10 days that happened in our country, I think I make it clear to all of us that we must maintain dialogue and togetherness," said SBY, in his remarks at the opening of an art exhibition entitled "Art for Peace and A Better Future" at Astha District, South Jakarta, Saturday, September 6, confiscated by Antara.

SBY said that the demonstration, which was one of his demands for protests against the fantastic allowances for DPR members, made all parties, including the government, aware of building a better direction and trust.

According to him, the importance of all parties to maintain communication, brotherhood and dialogue with one goal to build an advanced nation.

"Let's look forward to increasing dialogue, togetherness, hard work towards a better Indonesia under the leadership of our leader President Prabowo," he said.

SBY has optimism that Indonesia will be able to be better if all parties work together to carry out their mandate.

"Building good intentions, sincere work and strong enthusiasm for our better future. There is always a way to get to Indonesia that we aspire to," he said.

Previously, demonstrations in the last few days began on Monday, August 25, when students, students, and community groups tried to convey their aspirations in front of the parliament building in Jakarta regarding the increase in allowances for DPR members.

After that, the demonstration was held again on Thursday, August 28 at the main gate of the parliament complex in Jakarta to demand an increase in workers' wages.

During the demonstration, an online motorcycle taxi driver Affan Kurniawan who was delivering orders was run over by a tactical police vehicle and killed, causing anger from residents and sparking more demonstrations to prosecute authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident.

In addition, following a demonstration that was colored by looting of houses for members of the DPR and the destruction of public facilities in Jakarta and a number of areas.
