KPK Employees Become ASN, Expert: Influencing The Independence Of Corruption Eradication

JAKARTA - Constitutional Law Expert Bivitri Susanti said that changing the status of an employee of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to become a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) would have a major effect on independence in eradicating corruption in the country.

"The risk is clear that this will make the KPK no longer independent," said Bivitri in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, May 6.

When the anti-graft agency was established, its human resources were deliberately created separately and supported by a Government Regulation (PP) that was separated from ASN in general.

The goal is that KPK employees do not enter into general executive arrangements which could interfere with their independence.

She said that if KPK employees have become ASN, there will be tests that can be controlled by government institutions.

"The proof has happened, where the national insight test is not a national insight test itself but has been designed, and this is a big question," said the lecturer at the Jentera Indonesian Law College.

Previously, she continued, if there was a test on the body of the KPK, it would use an independent institution. The institution designs and links directly competence with competence not competence with national insight.

Therefore, changing the status of KPK employees to ASN is a serious problem and needs to be saved so that its independence is not lost.

"Maybe if you say you can still scavenge, detain the KPK, don't really go into its grave," said Bivitri.
