Bekasi City Government Prepares Stadium For Quarantine Of Residents Returning From Homecoming

BEKASI - The Bekasi City Government, West Java, has prepared the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium as a place to quarantine residents who return to their area after the Eid homecoming.

"If someone is naughty, they come back from their village and are caught, we will put them there first," said Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi in Bekasi, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 4.

"The stadium is now empty, the facilities start from the bathroom, there are beds. Health facilities are also complete," he continued.

Rahmat reminded residents to comply with the government ban on homecoming from 6 to 17 May 2021.

"Stay at home, in the city of Bekasi, keep your distance, health protocols are running, because there is a concern that a wave (of COVID-19 transmission) will emerge," said Rahmat.

"The risk is not only in the village but here, in areas that we can control," continued Rahmat.

He emphasized the importance of awareness of residents delaying homecoming in an effort to prevent a spike in the transmission of the coronavirus.

"Unless there is something extraordinary in the village. But even that is a multi-layered permit. But if you visit family because of tradition, now please postpone it," he said.
