Puan Maharani Discourses On Teacher Imports From Overseas In Today's Memory, 9 May 2019

Previously, the quality of the workforce in Indonesia was dominated by elementary and junior high school graduates. The government also wants to increase the potential of the workforce. They hope that the workforce has many skills.

Indonesia has a big problem with the workforce. The Ministry of Manpower emphasized that 58 percent of the generation in Indonesia is dominated by elementary and junior high school graduates. The data was revealed in early January 2019.

This condition is clearly a problem for the Indonesian government. Indonesia's dream of becoming a country with a strong economy is disrupted. The government is trying to move. Solutions for solutions are prepared. The government tries to prepare a wide training room.

The desire to cooperate with training centers from the government to the regions has begun to be seriously discussed. If necessary with private-owned training institutions. The goal is to develop the will and creativity of the workforce.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) fully supports this on May 9, 2019. He emphasized that the problem of the Indonesian workforce which is dominated by elementary and junior high school graduates must be resolved. Jokowi does not want Indonesia to fall into the category of middle-income countries that find it difficult to move up to high income.

The current language is middle income trap. If it enters, Indonesia's dream to progress will be difficult. Jokowi also realized that this step clearly took a long time. Jokowi also predicts that all kinds of existing problems can be resolved in 2045, or precisely in 100 years of independent Indonesia.

Jokowi asked all his staff to immediately work hard so that it can be realized. Then the manager just follows in his footsteps.

To get in there is not easy, there are many challenges that must be resolved and faced. Don't think we usually get into the top 4, the top 5 is the strongest economy. Such a formula doesn't exist.

Many countries are trapped in a middle income trap because they cannot solve big problems in their country. We must be able to solve the existing problems towards 2045, 100 years of independent Indonesia," Jokowi said at the National Development Planning Conference (Musrenbangnas) in Jakarta as quoted by the ANTARA page, May 9, 2019.

Puan Maharani was also challenged to see Jokowi's great desire. The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture in the same event also said that he would import teachers or teachers from abroad to teach in Indonesia. This desire is so that the quality of Indonesian education increases and human resource development progresses.

Puan considered this wish reasonable. The issue of language constraints is not a problem. Later the government will provide translators and sub-language equipment. Schools will also be asked to formulate what number of teachers they want and what kind of teachers they want.

"We invite teachers from abroad to teach the necessary knowledge in Indonesia," said Puan as quoted by the ANTARA page, May 9, 2019.

However, Puan's idea was rejected everywhere. The criticism of Puan came because she was considered to be degrading the ability of teaching staff from within the country. Later, Puan also confirmed that what she meant was inviting teachers to train Indonesian teachers. Not importing teachers to teach.
