Kemendikbudristek Reminds People Not To Be Tempted By Fake Private Universities
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) reminded the public not to be tempted by irresponsible or fake private universities (PTS).
"We ask people not to be tempted by irresponsible universities. Mr. Minister is just doing the communication with all LLDikti throughout Indonesia from Aceh to Papua, stating that the quality of our education and services to students is number one," said Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Paristiyanti Nurwadani in a media conference in Jakarta, Thursday.
She also added to not let students who studied at a tertiary institution, but their competence is still the same as the previous level.
"So the Minister wants to make sure that if the government subsidizes and invests in human resources in higher education, the competence expected of students at the tertiary institution is in accordance with the level of education of a bachelor or degree or master or doctorate," she explained.

Previously, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) found five fake Ministry of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) decrees related to private universities (PTS) operational permits.
The private university (PTS) concerned is Painan University, located in Tangerang, Banten. The university has violated the provisions of Law/2012 concerning Higher Education.
A total of five operational permit decrees are suspected to be fake, namely the Minister of Education and Culture Decree regarding the permit to change the name and location of one of the PTS located in East Java to Banten, the Minister of Education and Culture's Decree regarding the permit to open an accounting study program (undergraduate) for the PTS as referred to in the first point, the Minister of Education and Culture's decree regarding the permit to open a notary study program (magister) at one of the private universities in Banten.
Furthermore, the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture regarding the permit for the Law Science Study Program (doctorate) at PTS as referred to in the second point and the Minister of Education and Culture's Decree regarding the permit to merge (two) high schools into universities in Banten. The five decrees are for three PTS that are affiliated with each other.
"We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Head of Metro Jaya Police and the Deputy Chief of Police for Metro Jaya, who have responded very quickly to our reports since January 2021," he explained.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) appealing to people who want to establish private universities or open new study programs so that in processing operational permits they are obedient to the legislation.
"Therefore sirs, madams, in taking care of permits don't use third parties, don't use brokers, we at Silemkerma are already able to open the permit and can be monitored," he added.
If the requirements have been met with the standards then within 15 days actually the permit from the study program can come out as long as it is in accordance with the requirements.
"Why does sometimes it take long? That's because sometimes the requirements have not been met. This time the management of operational permits in private universities at the Ministry of Education and Culture, as I said, is very easy, fast, precise, and accurate because it is done online," he added.
