Posts A Photo Wearing Kebaya, Sri Mulyani Reminds Kartini's Struggle Is Relevant To The Millennium Era

JAKARTA - The Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani appears to have uploaded a photo wearing a kebaya complete with a typical Javanese female bun. Not without reason, the Minister of Finance did that. She deliberately shared this moment on her personal Instagram page @smindarawati as a form of commemoration of Kartini's Day which falls today.

According to the Minister of Finance, Kartini's thoughts on fighting for women's equality are still very relevant today. This is evidenced by Kartini's spirit which is in line with the aspirations of today's world.

"In fact, more than a hundred years before the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) were declared, Kartini fought for it", she said, Wednesday, April 21.

The minister then quoted Kartini's message in a letter sent to NvZ which was later published in Kolonial Weekblad, a Dutch tabloid, edition 25 December 1902.

"Our hope: Please, help us so that our efforts are useful for our nation and especially for the women of that nation.

Help us to free her from the heavy burdens that were placed on her shoulders by an old tradition passed down from generation to generation. Please help us to raise their rank, to make real women and mothers more ready to carry out their great obligations. The obligations imposed by Mother Nature herself on women, namely: the first educators of mankind!

It is not without reason that people say: good and evil are drunk by children with breast milk. We are absolutely sure that the work which brings many blessings will not be able to progress rapidly, as long as Javanese women do not take part in the work of civilization, in the education of their nation, no matter how many virtuous skin people pour out all their love and energy against that job ... ".

RA Kartini's struggles and thoughts, opened up opportunities for women of my mother's generation, women of my generation, and women of future generations to be able to enjoy education up to the highest level. So that women can take part in building civilization, in the education of their children, and participate in advancing their nation.

Let us maintain Kartini's fighting spirit, for a civilized, dignified, educated, just and prosperous Indonesia", wrote Sri Mulyani.

In this post, the Global Markets version of the best Minister of Finance in the Asia Pacific also posted several personal photos, including with her mother Retno Sriningsih and with her husband Tonny Sumartono.
