Brimob Members Headquarters Involved In Beating Case At Pasar Rebo, Death Toll

East Jakarta Metro Police arrested 10 suspects in connection with the beating that led to the death of a victim named Rahmat Faisandri (29) in the Pasar Rebo area, East Jakarta, several months ago.

From the autopsy results, the victim died after experiencing 29 stitches to the head, broken jaw, back, wounds, tied hands and broken legs.

East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Nicolas Ary Lilipaly said the length of the investigation and arrest of the suspects was due to the difficulty of finding CCTV footage and witness testimony at the scene.

"Our difficulty with CCTV is not working. They have an incomplete identity, we need time to pursue and arrest them," said Kombes Nicolas to reporters, Monday, February 3.

After a number of evidences and witness statements have been collected, the East Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim investigators finally managed to arrest 10 suspects.

One of the suspects is a member of the Brimob Police Headquarters.

"They (10 suspects) together beat them. The perpetrators were charged with the same article, namely beatings," he said.

Currently, 10 suspects have been detained in the detention cell of the East Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters.

"Members of the National Police were detained in the same case as 9 other perpetrators. The articles imposed were also the same because they were both beatings," he said.

Ten suspects were arrested based on the results of the development of the other suspects who were arrested earlier.

"Four suspects were arrested on January 10, 2025, two other suspects were arrested on January 21, three suspects were arrested on January 29, and one suspect on January 31," he said.

Meanwhile, Kombes Nicolas promised that his party would remain transparent in handling cases of beatings involving unscrupulous members of the National Police.

"We are transparent in this regard. We must be professional and procedural," he said.
