West Jakarta Police Follow Up On Glodok Plaza Building Status Not Meeting Safety Standards
The West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately summoned the Head of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) regarding the Glodok Plaza Building not meeting fire safety standards since 2023.
Until now, the West Jakarta Metro Police have not been able to reveal the cause of the deadly fire at Glodok Plaza, Tamansari, West Jakarta.
In the fire incident, 14 residents were reported missing. 6 of them were identified as visitors and employees of the Tiyara entertainment venue in Glodok Plaza.
Meanwhile, regarding the SOP for the fire safety standard of the Glodok Plaza building, the police have not checked even though they have checked the manager of the Tiyara building and karaoke.
"Later we will ask again to call him, how is the SOP related to the anticipation of fires and SOPs issued by the Fire Department," said West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, AKBP Arfan Zulkan, Monday, February 2.
In addition, the police will also summon other external parties regarding the addition of witnesses in the Glodok Plaza fire incident.
Previously, the Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Satriadi Gunawan, revealed that the Glodok Plaza building that caught fire on Wednesday, January 15, did not meet the standard for building fire safety since 2023.

This is known from the periodic evaluation by the DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Service which is carried out every year.
"For the Plaza Glodok case, we have stated that in 2023 we have not met the fire safety requirements," said Satriadi at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, January 21.
One of the fire safety requirements that were not met in the Glodok Plaza building was the protection of fires inside the building that did not function optimally.
"The problem of functioning or not is the responsibility of the owner and manager. For example, I checked today that he was functioning. A month later, it didn't work. So it should be the responsibility of the owner and manager," said Satriadi.
According to Satriadi, his party has warned Glodok Plaza managers to meet building safety standards.
Starting from ensuring the availability of access to firefighters into buildings, active fire protection infrastructure such as APAR and sprinklers must function, prepare building fire safety management, and provide two rescue stairs for evacuation.
"So it is not certain that when we checked, at that time it was good. Again it is the responsibility of the managers and owners for treatment related to the protection of the fire," he explained.
