The Jafar/Felisha Couple Wants To Be Tested For The First Seed

JAKARTA - The Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha couple Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu are both curious to be tested by the first seed after making sure they qualify for the second round of the Indonesia Masters 2025.

The couple secured tickets for the round of 16 after locking up two games 21-19 and 22-20 over Ming Che Lu/Hung En Tzu from Chinese Taipei on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

In the second round, Jafar/Felisha will immediately face a tough test against first seed Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei from Malaysia. The pair is currently ranked fourth in the world.

Felisha welcomed the match happily. I just want to fight everyone. I want to know how strong the top ten players are because they have never met and this is the first time," he said.

Jafar was also enthusiastic about fighting the couple who in the first half eliminated Julien Maio/Léa Palermo (France). For him, this is the time to measure the quality of their training so far.

"I've never met Tang Jie Chen/Ee Wei toh. So, yes, I'm curious to see them tomorrow," said the badminton player who was born in Tangerang, Banten.

Jafar/Felisha are a new couple. They were combed into the composition last August by their then coach, Herry Iman Pierngadi, who has now joined Malaysia.

The changes immediately bore sweet fruit with two consecutive titles, respectively at the Indonesia International Challenge and Indonesia Masters which took place in Pekanbaru.

In total they have secured three titles since then. One other title was obtained at the next Indonesia International Challenge which took place in Surabaya in October 2024.

The match at the Indonesia Masters marked their debut in the current formation. This match is also special for Felisha because for the first time she feels Istora's atmosphere.

"Praise God, today I was able to debut at Istora, her feelings must be extraordinary, they are amazing to be nervous too. Everything is mixed up, but thank God it can overcome everything well," he said.

Jafar/Felish are one of seven Indonesian mixed doubles pairs to compete in the Indonesia Masters this year. They were the first representatives of the sector to qualify for the second round.
