SAR Evacuates Body Of Old Iron Diver In Batam Waters
TANJUNGPINANG- The joint SAR team managed to evacuate the body of Sandy Suwardi (42 years), a dark iron diver who drowned in the waters of Sekupang, Batam City, Riau Islands (Kepri).
Head of the Tanjungpinang SAR Office Fazzli said the victim was found dead on Monday at around 15.50 WIB.
"The victim was found after the joint SAR team carried out a dive, 0.29 NM southeast of the scene," said Fazzli, Monday, January 6.
After successfully bringing the victim to the surface, the victim was then evacuated to the funeral home in Batam Kota District.
Fazzli explained earlier that the Tanjungpinang Class A SAR OfficeCom Center received information from Yulianti (the victim's brother-in-law) that on Monday, at 06.00 WIB, the victim dived around Sekupang waters or in front of the Bandar Victory Shipyard shipyard to look for scrap metal.
However, after diving for a long time, the victim did not rise to the surface, so the family felt worried and reported it to the Tanjungpinang SAR Office at around 12.30 WIB.
"From the report, six Batam SAR Pos rescuers headed to the scene to look for victims," said Fazzli.
The search for victims was carried out using various methods, including using the Aqua Eeye or an object detection device under the surface of the water used to search for drowning victims, then sweeping, and carrying out dives.
The Joint SAR team consisting of the Tanjungpinang Search and Rescue Office, Batam SAR Post, Riau Police Dirpolair, then fishermen behind Padang, Kasu Island fishermen, and Tanjung Riau fishermen helped in finding victims.
