Remember! Firearm Owners Must Use Special Permits According To The Rules

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, Bambang Soesatyo invited the owners of special permits for martial arts firearms to join the Association of Owners of Special Permits for Firearms Martial Arts (Periksha), to facilitate coaching while ensuring permits for the use of firearms.

This follows the cowboy action of Fortuner driver and acts of terror in the Police Headquarters who abused the use of firearms some time ago.

The Chairman of Periksha said that his party will coordinate with the National Police to conduct a complete data collection of anyone who has obtained a permit to own a firearm, through his name and address, to then join the organization.

"In addition, we also built a strong database, so that if any owner misuses a special permit for the use of martial arts firearms, it can be immediately penalized", Bamsoet told reporters on Tuesday, April 13.

Bamsoet explained that there are two methods of registration to become a member of Periksha through online and manual registration. That allows Periksha to implement an accountable recording system for all martial arts firearms permit holders.

"In line with the mission of the organization, Periksha will also routinely provide an understanding of the rights and obligations of possession of martial arts firearms to all members of the association. Among other things through seminars and workshops and routine exercises together at the Shooting Range Perbakin Senayan", he explained.

In addition, Bamsoet said, the association will also regularly hold joint shooting exercises to members of the association. Considering the ability to shoot is an ability that must always be honed.

"If not trained periodically, it is feared that there is a decrease in the accuracy of firepower", he said.

In addition to holding regular training, he added, in September 2021, Periksha will also hold a Shooting Skills Sharpening Competition, contesting the Chairman's Cup of The People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI), for the special permits for martial arts firearms. In cooperation with the International Defensive Pistol Association Indonesia (IDPA Indonesia) and PB Perbakin.

Therefore, Bamsoet stated that in order to build strategic cooperation and partnership, Periksha will begin to conduct relationships with various stakeholders. Among other things with the National Police to contribute to realizing public order and security.

Up to the Ministry of Defense and the National Army (TNI) as part of a spare component that can be used to defend the country, safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation.

"Considering the ratio of the number of police and the National Army with the number of people in Indonesia is still lame. Approximately, 470.000 Police personnel and 800.000 TNI personnel must serve and protect, while safeguarding an estimated 270 million people. This is where the importance of community participation to cooperate with the authorities in maintaining security, order, and sovereignty of the nation and country", concluded the former chairman of the House of Representatives.
